Being an avid animal lover, I thrill at the idea of a pet enhancing the life or even improving the communication/relating skills of a person with autism. I often recommend to families that they look into getting a pet for their child with autism. Of course, the pet has to be a good fit (patient, loyal, never aggressive) and the family has to have the time and resources to be able to manage a pet. I would love to hear stories from other readers about their experiences with pets and autism. -Kate Altman
